The theme for our latest Messy Church on Saturday 8th July was Pentecost…..a little late but better late than never!
The children made windmills and kites and wrote on balloons to demonstrate the wind that blew on the disciples.
They made paper headbands with paper flames attached and glued streamers of red, yellow and orange tissue paper onto red card to illustrate the flames which appeared on the disciples heads …. I think that the adults enjoy the crafts just as much as the children!
Small sponge cakes were decorated with butter cream and strawberries sliced into the shape of flames also represented the flames on the disciples heads.
The children were each given a small brown paper carrier bag to decorate in which they could take home their goodies.
After a hectic session of cutting, gluing and sticking, the children sat quietly and listened to the story of Pentecost, sang a song and then the Rev Peter closed with a short prayer.
The next Messy Church will be on 30th September from 2.30 to 4.30 pm and the theme will be Harvest.
So do come and join in the fun…we would love to see you.
